The Job
The Opportunity Network (OppNet) seeks a high-performing, mission-oriented individual to join its collaborative Student Services and Operations program team. As a member of the Student Services and Operations team, they will join a group dedicated to providing operations, wellness support, and resources to our Fellows. This position offers opportunities for varied interaction with our Fellows for one-on-one consultation support. The Social Worker will be responsible for consulting with OppNet staff to provide students with timely mental health referrals and work with program staff to develop action plans regarding the socio-emotional health of our Fellows. They will connect OppNet Fellows to inclusive mental health resources and proactively follow up with community and school stakeholders on Fellows’ long-term wellness. The Social Worker will play an essential role in formalizing systems that uphold our DEI mission and ensure a high quality experience for Fellows. The Person
The ideal candidate will personally connect to the important work we do and value diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) across the organization. The candidate will demonstrate DEI values by actively participating in all organizational-wide learning sessions and self-reflection, as well as working with others to enact changes that contribute to meeting the organization’s anti-racist and anti-oppressive goals. The candidate should possess outstanding professionalism and discretion, organizational skills and attention to detail, energy and initiative, the ability to prioritize and complete a variety of tasks on time, and a willingness to work on a wide range of assignments and collaborate with staff members across program areas.

The Social Worker will have the following responsibilities:
 Provide clinical counseling services on short-term basis;
 Engage in consistent outreach with students and their families to make recommendations for long-term services and treatment and ensure that services are received;
 Conduct social services needs intakes and write intake reports in a culturally competent manner;
 Be on call/respond to crisis situations (abuse, self-harm, etc.) outside of office/work hours;
 Research and develop a resource directory for referral sources that are inclusive and reflective of students’ lived
experiences (e.g. immigration status, housing, cultural identity, sexual/gender identity, racial identity, etc.)
 Work with the Student Services and Program Operations, Program Manager to develop a service protocol and communication workflow;
 Develop and maintain relationships with social service providers, schools, local government agencies, and community organizations in order to facilitate student referrals in New York City;
 Conduct social services needs intakes and psychosocial assessments in culturally competent manner;
 Work with the Social Work Consultant to:
o Maintain student files and case notes using the Salesforce database system;
o Collaborate with the program team to creatively develop new strategies and curriculum content for college and high school students and families related to wellness and mental health
o Research professional development opportunities for staff related to student mental health and empowerment;
 Host regularly scheduled office hours for students;
 Review staff protocol and student contract language for efficiency and inclusiveness.

Qualifications & Requirements
 Graduate degree in Social Work from an accredited university;
 LMSW/LCSW/LCSW-R certified;
 Experience working with high school students in the public school system and college students, with measurable outcomes and results;
 Knowledge of the social, educational, health, and other services available to youth who are from communities of color, low-income families, a spectrum of sexual and gender expressions, religious backgrounds, immigrant experiences, and cultural backgrounds in New York City;
 Familiarity with immigration law, family law, and legal services;
 Ability to engage and diffuse crisis situations;
 Demonstrated project management experience;
 Experience with project management software preferred;
 Fluency in languages other than English preferred;
 Strong verbal, written, and oral communication skills;
 Outstanding organizational skills; detail-oriented; well-versed in data-driven practices;
 Self-starter; comfortable operating in growth mode and wearing many hats; experience working collaboratively as part of a team;
 Demonstrated proficiency in word processing, spreadsheets, internet research, e-mail, and Google Apps for Business;
 Availability and willingness to work during after-school hours (Monday-Friday after 2:30pm);
 Demonstrated belief in The Opportunity Network’s mission; and
 Likes to get things done!

This is an hourly paid, part-time, contractual position with no benefits. The hourly rate will be $45-$50 per hour, commensurate with experience, for 15 hours per week.
