Weekend Circulation Assistant (Part time)

Job Description:

Bellarmine University Library is seeking applications for a part-time weekend circulation assistant.This is a 12-month position. Normal work hours are Friday, 3 pm to 7 pm, and Saturday 7:45 am to 5 pm and Sunday 10:45 am to 3 pm, subject to change during exam times (when the position will be expected to work overnight), breaks, inter-sessions, and summers. The position's responsibilities include: overseeing weekend activities of circulation services, including providing excellent customer service, circulation of materials, reserves, maintenance of stacks, and enforcement of policies and procedures, overseeing the library building, patrons and employees in the absence of a librarian; and working collaboratively with other staff.


We seek someone with customer service experience; good oral and written communication skills; excellent interpersonal and organizational skills; basic computer literacy (Windows operating system, word processing, and Internet navigation) and ability to perform tasks needing close attention to detail. Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, demonstrate initiative and use independent judgment. Must be flexible and readily adaptable to change and innovation.

Physical Requirements of the Position: must be able to push/pull a loaded book truck & retrieve materials from stacks ranging from 4" to 8' off the ground.

Preferred Qualifications Include: Bachelor's degree (or associate's degree in library science). Experience in a library environment.
