Job Description:

The Office of Financial Aid has an immediate opening for a Financial Aid Assistant.  This is a regular, full-time position, with the normally scheduled hours of 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.  However, on occasion, evening and weekend hours are required.  This position reports to the Associate Director of Financial Aid.

The Financial Aid Assistant will provide administrative and front end office support for the Office of Financial Aid.  This position will assist all visitors with information about financial aid. The Financial Aid Assistant will provide general financial aid assistance and initial level screening for appropriate referral of questions and phone calls to the financial aid counselors.

Responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to:

Application data entry
File management
Letter generation and appropriate follow-up
Front line customer assistance, including answering questions about the financial aid process
Mail pickup and distribution
Supervision of work-study students
Answering phones
Assistance for walk-in customers
Performs other job-related duties and responsibilities as assigned by supervisor 


Requirements:

The requirements below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. 

Education:  High school diploma or equivalent required.
Experience:  Three to six months related experience and/or training from college or technical college; or equivalent combination of education and experience required.

Technical Skills: Possess technical abilities with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).  Possess strong written and oral communication skills. 

Other Skills:  Ability to read and interpret documents such as a procedure manual.  Experience working with student financial aid programs or in another higher education enrollment management area.  Ability to perform multiple tasks in a dynamic environment.  Ability to solve problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations.
