Job Description
Senior Technical Designer
Universal Standard is seeking a Senior Technical Designer to join our team. As part of the Product Team, the Senior Technical Designer will report to the Director of Technical Design. This individual will be responsible for developing the technical components for specific products in sizes 00-40 from sketch handoff, fit approval to final pre-production approval, and development of tech packs.

What You’ll Do:
-Own product categories independently
-Manage product lifecycle from sketch handoff
-Initial sample fit approval through the final pre-production size set approval for multiple product lines
-Implement strategies and procedures to ensure consistency of fit, construction, quality and costs
-Serve as the technical liaison between Design, Sourcing, and Production
-Monitor calendar to meet key milestones and deadlines through the department process
-Manage the consistency, accuracy, and completeness of the tech packs
-Review tech/spec packs for each style
-Oversee the preparation of samples and documentation during fit sessions
-Lead fit sessions and schedule follow-up for corrections
Qualifications & Requirements
Who You Are:
-Bachelor’s degree in fashion design or related
-7- 10 years of experience in technical design
-Experience in all product categories
-Expertise in cut and sew jersey, sweaters, denim and / or intimates is a plus
-Has strength in plus sized technical design
-Must have experience working with international factories, with exceptional communication and organizational skills
-Strong knowledge of apparel fitting, stretch garments, and specs
-Strong leadership and coaching skills
-Ability to work independently and work to meet multiple deadlines
-Strong PLM, Illustrator, Photoshop, and Excel skills
-Positive and dependable attitude
-Flexible and adaptable to a very fast-paced environment
