The Tech Studio Manager is responsible for managing dynamic teams of students and daily operations of the ASU Tech Studios at all four valley campus locations (Tempe, West, Poly, Downtown). The Tech Studios provide students and the ASU community with a best-in-class technical support experience with hardware, software, and learning technologies. Successful candidates will enjoy leading multiple student teams, appreciate working with diverse
audiences, have experience providing technical support to customers, have an understanding of instructional challenges surrounding the use of technology to support learning, and embody a passion for customer service. This position supports and lends visions to establishing formal technology evaluation approaches, collaborating with groups across the university on the impacting uses of emerging technology to support learning, and sharing the results of evaluations. $73,255 per year
Works on-campus and travels to all valley campuses (Tempe, Poly, Downtown, West)
Directs staff recruitment, development and evaluation; supervises, trains and evaluates assigned staff.
Monitors and manages team staffing levels and performance to ensure a positive customer experience.
Oversees acquisition and operation of technology resources (computers, servers, networks, software, data services).
Regularly communicates with Director regarding studio operations, staff performance, staff scheduling and any issues that may arise.
Collects and analyzes end-user feedback and communicates this analysis through written descriptions, diagrams, screenshots, screencasts, and live demonstrations so it is helpful for designers and development staff.
Measures, monitors, and reports progress of program and project outcomes against key results and seek to continuously improve efficiency.
Creates project implementation or revision plans that take resource availability, timelines, and competing priorities into account.
Takes responsibility for fostering culture, advancing our values, and championing engagement in all its forms -- collaborating across our teams as well as participating in UTO/ASU events and programs. Performs other duties as assigned or directed.
Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Information Systems, or related field AND five years of related experience, which includes three years of supervisory experience; OR, Any equivalent combination of education and/or experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.
Experience leading in a customer-facing environment
Ability to manage separate business groups within a complex environment
Ability to motivate others on a team and help them succeed
Detail-oriented, self-motivated, comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.
Strong customer service skills in the areas of handling disputes and treating customers with care
Ability to explain technical concepts in non-technical terms to diverse stakeholder groups: faculty, students, staff, and administrators
Ability to accomplish tasks and projects with multiple and overlapping deadlines
Advanced project management and coordination capabilities
Knowledge of current and future trends in educational technologies
Experience in the following areas:
Facilitating presentations to audiences of differing sizes
Troubleshooting hardware, software, and learning technologies
Problem-solving with the ability to apply strong critical and logical analysis to scenarios in the context of educational technology use
Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships
Planning, analyzing and coordinating activities and establishing priorities
Evidence of effective verbal and written communication skills
Ability to model empathy, compassion and emotional intelligence
Experience working in a values-led organization, emphasizing diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging
Ability to help foster a safe psychological space for all teammates where everyone can thrive

Activities are primarily performed in a regular, climate-controlled office setting subject to extended periods of sitting or standing.
