Steve Harvey Calls Tavis Smiley & Cornel West Uncle Toms For Criticizing Obama (1167 hits)

This topic is very interesting. I would like to get your take on this topic.
Do you believe Tavis Smiley & Cornel West are Uncle Toms and doing this tour for personal gains and hatred for our President?

Doesn't matter what color you are, what religious or ethnic group you belong to, what country you come from or what language you speak.

Calling someone a derogatory name in response to their argument is the lowest form of debate. It doesn't address their points and it doesn't persuade anybody that your arguments are better.

The way it usually works is when somebody doesn't have anything smart to say, the nasty names roll.

If Steve Harvey disagrees with Cornel West and Tavis Smiley--and wants to persuade somebody about his opinion, let him offer counter arguments so we can be the judge.

Name calling is so lame no matter who is doing it.

@Brother Kigel, I didn't hear one derogatory statement from Steve Harvey. He was simply reading a letter than gave his opinion, which I totally agree with. Tavis and Cornel are pimping the the public, when they should be taking that bus tour around the world to secure jobs for the jobless instead of denouncing the president and all that he's trying to do, but getting stomped on at every turn.

Anita:

You may have a good poitn--but since the sound is out on my computer I was not able to listen to the discussion. I was just reacting to the name.

I have heard them both speak on this issue in TV interviews--and I think it is a worthwhile idea.

In their defense, I think Tavis Smiley and Cornel West are sincerely trying rto bring attention to folks who have very few advocates in positions of power. I don't see how this benefits them personally.

Somebody needs to be talking the side of those folks who are most vulenrable.

@Kigel - You are right. They may be sincerely trying to bring attention to the problems of our people, but they are going about it in the wrong way. That bus tour should be going around to companies trying to get them to start hiring, or visiting different cities that are starting initiatives to start businesses and job, instead of blaming the president for everything. Those should be the highlights. The president does not hold the strings. He can push legislation as long as he wants, but if the republicans don’t let it get through ain’t nothing happening. I’m listening to the president right now talk about all the things he has on the table that congress won’t let get through, things that will give jobs immediately, but instead of building the GOP is set on destroying and taking down the president.
@Sis Irma - I hear what you’re. I actually really like the Doc. Harvard claims that the Dr. was fired because of his outside activities, which in my opinion shouldn’t have anything to do with the college as long as he isn‘t bringing ill will to the college, but that was their decision. It later came out that the president of the college made some very derogatory statements about the Dr. He said he was a loud mouth who shouldn’t have gotten the position at Harvard in the first place. There are many other blacks who qualified and should have, but after much grumbling from the administration and the Doc using the race card, he was hired. WHAT! He also said West is extravagantly public in his buffoonery, so it is hard to ignore him. He also said the elevation of West to the level of "university professorship" was "a racist joke because he's black. [They] put an idiot into one of Harvard's most distinguished professorships, and no one will say anything."
This and more statement’s came from a man who is in charge of some of the brightest minds and he is clearly a racist, who should be removed from his position, but that will be the day, so we can wish on, on that one.
Anyway I really like the Doc, but I think he’s headed down the wrong road on this one.

I hear you sis Irma. Me personally didn't have a problem with him being in Rev. Wright's church. I haven't heard one thing that the Rev. said that wasn't true. He is a little angry and could probably tone it down some. I don't believe the pulpit is the forum for the rhetoric he was spouting, but I come back to his words. They may have hurt, but he only spoke the truth. These two men are not speaking the truth. They are being put out there to cause confliction between the masses and I'm concerned with what this image of them carrying on, will do to this president and everything he's trying to do. He's not prefect, but he's what we've got and he's doing a heck of a lot better than the 8 years prior to him.

They sure have an odd way of going about doing this. I would love for them to travel and have teaching platforms, showing people how to get ahead, start business, fight their local government for equality, building up their own communities, but that is not their intent. If they were going to go out there and create jobs or at least start the conversation, that would be great, but that is not their intent. Their intent is to tare down this president, show him as being nothing more than a pawn in a bigger game than even he knows how to play. I will post some of their interview and its not nice. You can’t take what our people have been going through for hundreds of years and place the blame at the feet of the president. Maybe he can do more, but I truly believe the only thing more the president can be doing, and I’m a little frustrated with him on this, is to stand and fight and not back down. Take it to them and not cowtow to them at every turn. That’s what pisses me off.

I find it very ironic that Harvey, Smiley, and West are agents of the Illuminati. Meaning they are agents of the system. Particularly journalists whom the majority are members of the "Council of Foreign Relations, a off-spring of the Tri-Lateral Commission that was formed by the Rockefeller clan with the tacit approval of the Rothschild Family of London, England. The true owners of the majority of America's economic wealth!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
WHERE are their individual sovereign economic plans for our people which does not include the other nations?????
All of them are fighting over the crumbs of the "massa table".

@Brother Jake, We are all pawns in the game of life and are being used by the government in some shape or form to promote a higher agenda, but as a whole we do have power, minute as it is. The question is what do we with this power. Well I say as whole, it can be very powerful, but the mindset has to come correct. I've heard about this Illuminati, seen it all over the net. Don't know if it's a fad and personally don't care. Again my question is what are those that have the power by way of the bully platform doing with it. When its to hurt their own, they need to be brought to the guillotine. Peace!

uncleTom can be used in any sentence in america as an Adjective.

adjectives Richard, as you well know, are an essential part of the English Language and Literary communication................or art...........

adjectives describe

tavis and cornell were aptly described by steve harvey, who should know REAL well what an uncleTom is, as uncleTom describes him just as well, in my Literary abjective opinion.

What leads you Mr. Powell to these claims. Put proof behind actions. Where is his (Mr. Harvey's) subservietness (if that's a word). I don't see him cow towing to anyone. Maybe he likes the president, maybe he don't. What does he gain from bringing attention to himself, other than derogatory statements aimed at his manhood, which I see all over the internet. On the other hand, what does the other two gain from this? I have a long list, but I'm sure you can come up with some adjectives of your own.

Any Criticism of Our President Baraka Hussein Obama is uncleTomism-by palin or west-- in my opinion

but for negroSlave ancestors of west, tavis and harvey---- that in 1865 choose the religiousThought-"Gawd"; .................of slaverAmericana-1492-1864: is a cowTower to Humanity----as that meekish, subservient tribute to kidnapping, torture, pedophilia, domicility and murder of 400 years; in my opinion; is the Greatest Crime Against Humanity ever(not slavery but the negroTomishism acceptance)

so tavis, so cornel, so harvey are the same........to me..............

My only problem with this is how we as a people had not problem not saying anythings when our president was and still is being condemned for attending a Black church which his attending it put the whole country in danger...or is he really in the opinion of the Black community the Anti-Christ? (nup)

@Rich, and this is related to my points I make when it comes to our need to conscintrate on teh negatives as the needs to be passed on. example, Please raise your hand if you have been watching Smiley's years of Black town Halls on c-span his program on PBS...Know not only about Dr West being fired fromone of th emost predicous university in America because he refused to distort our true BIA history or that Dr. West is the mentor of the co founder of Color of Change, etc.(smile/ nup)
Thursday, April 10th 2014 at 6:47PM
@Anity, you just did what these two Black leaders want you to do and for me and the rest of our community...example, Look at what you said about our president is not in Congress...now how many times have you heard this brought up???? And if not for the negatives in this whole thing relating to the Dr. and Smiley what you said that beautiful teaching moment in your defense of our president would have never even been on th ssite...AM I RIGHT AND NOT DO YOU GET WHAT BOTH RICHAND I ARE GETTING AT...DON'T FORGET WHE MENTORED RICH IN OUR BIA HISTORY NONE OTHER THAN...WHAT DR. OF OUR HISTORY IS MENTIONED IN HIS BOOK'S THANKS ABOUT OUR CULTURE...RICH, I MEAN...I SURE WISH I COULD SAY I HAD BEEN TAUGHT ABOUT OUR HISTORY BY ONE OF THE BEST IN THAT FIELD AS RICH HAS. LOL(SMILE)

ANITA YOU ARE DOING WHAT IS SO NEEDED BY ALL, LEARNING ABOUT WHAT MAKES US PROUD IN OUR BEING ABLE TO TALK WITH EACH OTHER LIKE THIS. LOV YA. (SMILE)
Thursday, April 10th 2014 at 6:47PM
Now Anita please if you go back and reread your comments to Rich, you will be able to see exactly the purpose of these two men from a different view point (what we call the African-centered view point of African-Americans.lol)...and not to worry about the Black church matter...gov. Perryis already making them regret they ever started this with our president in teh first place...

AND, PLEASE KNOW THAT OUR BEING PATIENT IS ONE OF OUR GREATEST LINES OF DEFENSE. LOL (SMILE)
Thursday, April 10th 2014 at 6:47PM
@Anita, I take back what I just said about Perry and religion, because I had cut of the computer and gone to watch the Last Word w L.O. and gov. Perry from what these people are talking about may be forced to leave the race sooner than later...these people seem like they want this person tried for funning a fraudulane campaign for governor...this is the first I have heard of this no wonder he is trying to get his name not connected to the Bush administration. Oh Well. (smile)
Thursday, April 10th 2014 at 6:47PM
I so hope it is not my just wishful thinking tat our president in his two speeches at his town hall has started to remind the public he is not a mamber of our best congress taht money can buy as he is not taking sides with any party in congress but stressing how they don't work for those who voted them into office...

I noticed our president talk about voting members of Congress out of office, so I am sure he is now doing every thing in his power to make the points Anita just made about our president. lol(smile)
Thursday, April 10th 2014 at 6:47PM
...Anita, me I believe it is odd how we never even post anything about Smiley's town Halls on C-Span...and if there were then we would know about Dr. West first hand not by way of media manipulations...and they really ratched i tup in support of voting for Sneator Obama evenOperh's town halls wer not onour site...but negatives about Oprah's net work has been on here...

so it is not "ODD" the way they are going about it, it is now they have us putting things aobut them on black social networksso we can have discussions like we have not been doing, right...

BE IT RIGHT OR BE IT WRONG WE ARE TALKING AOBUT THE GOOD THINGS OUR PRESIDENT DOES AND DOES NOT DO AND FROMOUR OWN VIEW POINTS NOT FROM THEMEDIA'S VIEW POINTS...ANYONE KNOW YET TAHT JA Z IS AMEMBER OF THIS SAME CHURCH???????????????I DOUBT IT BECAUSE IT SEMS WE HAVE NOT TURNED AGAINST HIM AND HIS GOOD WORKS FOR OUR YOUTHS...

YES, LOVE WE MUST GET THINGS OUT LIKE THIS BY ANY MEANS NECESSARY AND IT SURE IS NOT GOING TO BE BY SAYING POSITIVE THINGS ABOUT BLACK SKINNED PEOPLES. (NUP)
Thursday, April 10th 2014 at 6:47PM
...i WILL say this and then leave...rev. Wright was not th epastor of Obama and Oprha's church, but he is still the person wo mentored these tow people to not allow the hurts of the past to stand in their way whichmade Wright a danger to the powers that be...

at the time thepastor of the Obama's and Oprah's was a younge man named as one of the top 10 up and coming black males in America...

anyone know his name because he got no press as the real and true minister of this church because it would hav made (maybe) all of those sound bites of Wright teching our real BIA null and void...and I repeat I leave now as I am getting personal on how we accept hating our race so readly over loving and respecting by way of passing this on to the next generation...
